Join us as we embark on a journey through the African American experience. From before the middle passage to post slavery, enjoy two excerpt performances of two Black History plays that tell the story of how African Kings and Queens were diminished to nothing and treated with brute force and cruelty through the American Slave Trade.
WEUSI focuses on Black History icons like
QUEEN NZINGA, NAT TURNER, & HARRIET TUBMAN just to name a few.
CULTURAL MILLENNIUM: THE ALL FEMALE CAST ADAPTATION focuses on the average struggles of the African American female.
Each excerpt performance offers a powerful preview of what each play is all about. In celebration of 100 years of Black History Month and lest we forget, Dream 7 is proud to join forces with Gubasavi Productions to bring you a snapshot of Black History overall. The Black Experience entails abundant suffering and triumph that must be remembered and taught for all to know and understand the innumerable challenges that the African American has faced in America.
There will be live spoken word during intermission from two spoken word artists, Henry Jones and Syncere.
Each performance will conclude with a talk-back for audience feedback.
We look forward to seeing you at the show!
